Brazilian Tulipwood is a small tree and the cut timber has varying shades of pink and dark red on a background of yellow.
Spalted English Beech is a European tree that grows to about 100ft. The fresh cut wood is kept in plastic bags to encourage minute organisms to cause the "spalting".
English Oak Burr gets attacked by fungus which causes the Knotty deformities, cracks and voids.
Brazilian Kingwood grows to a height of 50 to 100 ft and forms a wood of light pink to dark violet with black stripes.
Pink Ebony or Pink Ivory is from South Africa and grows up to 40 ft. he wood is straight grained with varying degrees of colour. This wood is now quite rare!
English Yew grows to 50ft and can live for over 1000 years! The heartwood is orange and brown, often with patches of purple.
This is the Australian Red Gum that grows to a height of 150ft! It has a reddish brown to pinkish white colouring and in the past was often used for railway sleepers.
Mexican Rosewood
English White Oak grows to a height of 100ft and has a straight open grain.
The Brazilian Coco Bolo Tree grows up to 60 ft. The wood has a range of colours from red with orange and yellow streaks. It darkens on exposure.
